미국판 강남 8학군!!

요샌 신문과 인터넷은 키워드가 부동산 시장입니다!!

매물이 없다!! 좋은 매물은 나오자마자 경쟁이 붙어 웃돈을 주어야 살수있다!! 기회를 놓치면 안된다!! 라는 이야기로

도배가 되다시피 합니다. 물론 주택이 필요한 실수요자는 마음에 드는 집이 있으면 구입하시는게 정답입니다!!

그런데 분위기에 휩쓸려 주택을 구입하는 그런 잘못된 선택은 재고하시라는 이야기 입니다!!

 

 

 

부동산업에 관계 하시는 분들의 입장에서 볼적엔 "당신이 집 사라고 돈대어 주는 것도 아닌데 웬? 감타령, 배타령?"

하시는 분도 있으시겠지만 과거 상투 끝을 잡은 분들을 주위에서 많이 봤기에 주의를 환기 시키는 차원에서 그럴뿐

다른 뜻은 없으니 곡해는 마시라는 뜻도 미리 밝혀둡니다.

 

 

 

일반적으로 아이들 교육을 다시키고 나이가 드신 분들이 좋은 학군을 찿아 주택을 구입해서 이사를 하는

경우는 없습니다!! 학교를 다 보내신 분들은 downsizing을 하여 이사를 가는 경우가 많다는 이야기 입니다....

하지만 취학 연령이 있는 자녀를 키우시는 부모의 입장에 계신 분들은 주택을 구입하실적에 학군이 최대의 고려 사항

입니다!! 그런데 이런 주택 실수요자를 이런 학군을 이유로 적절하게 유도하여 선택을 하게 만드는 일부 에이전트도

있습니다!! 그곳이 바로 소위 말하는 오렌지 카운티 입니다!!

오죽하면 한국에서 조기 유학이나 기러기로 미국에 오신다면 오렌지 카운티에 있는 학교의 이름을 미국에 사시는

분들보다 더 많이 아시겟습니까??

 

 

 

물론 좋은 학군은 오렌지 카운티만 있는게 아닙니다!! 하지만 전통적으로 한인이 제일 먼저 발을 내디디는 곳은

남가주 즉 엘에이 근방입니다..... 근린 시설이 편리 하기 때문 입니다..... 진정 아이의 교육때문에.... 영어를 빨리

습득을 시키기 위해.... 좋은 대학 진학을 많이 하는 학교를 찿기를 위해 주택을 구입을 하신다면 보폭을

좀더 넓히시기 바랍니다..... 다시 말하면 선택의 폭을 넓히라는 이야기 입니다!!

 

 

 

학군이 괜찮은 오렌지 카운티의 집값은 장난이 아닙니다!! 집에 돈이 많아 주체를 못할 정도고 돈에 깔려

사망을 하실 정도면 그리 하셔도 되지만 남편이 열라 벌고 매일 변하는 외환 시세에 좌불안석을 하고

소위 말하는 대치동 아파트에 살다 아이 학비에 쓰려고 전세를 놓고 본인은 원룸에 들어가 매일 소줏병과 시름을

하는 남편을 두신 분이라면 굳이 한곳만 고집을 하지 마시라는 이야기 입니다.

 

 

 

압니다!! 필자는 세 아이의 아빠 입니다!! 두 딸은 과외 한번 안시키고 경쟁력있는 대학을 가서 지금은 하나는

Morgan Stanley와 재향군인 병원에서 인턴을 하고 있습니다!!! 부모의 마음은 이글을 보시는 분이나 저나

다 마찬가지라 생각을 합니다.

 

 

 

그래서 필자는 오늘 이런 선택에 직면한 학부모님들을 위해서 U.S. News & World Report에 나오는

좋은 학군 그리고 그 주변에 산재해 있는 주거 지역에 관한 정보를 올리고자 합니다. 이글을 보시는 분이 해당 지역에

사시는 분이시라면 좀더 해당 지역의 자세한 내용 댓글을 부탁을 드리고 혹시 미국에 자녀를 교육 시킬 요량으로

오신다면 선택의 폭을 넓혀주는 좋은 정보가 될거라 생각을 합니다!!

10. Academic Magnet High School

North Charleston, S.C.

Students at this South Carolina high school must complete a yearlong independent-research project in a subject of their choice under the direction of a faculty member and a mentor.

 

 

 

9. International School

Bellevue, Wash.

Each year, students at this Washington-state school participate in focus weeks, which take students out of the classroom to help them gain real-world experience on subjects ranging from cooking to disaster preparedness.

 

 

 

8. Biotechnology High School

Freehold, N.J.

Biotechnology High School in New Jersey offers courses in genetics, forensics, and molecular and agricultural biotechnology. Seniors at this school must complete an internship before graduation.

 

 

 

7. Loveless Academic Magnet Program

Montgomery, Ala.

Admission to this Alabama school is selective and based on grade-point average, behavior and standardized-test scores. Its curriculum includes a variety of Advanced Placement courses, as well as competitive academic groups.

 

 

 

6. Pine View School

Osprey, Fla.

Faculty members at this Florida school take a different approach to education by mixing independent study, minicourses and ungraded classes with traditional classroom learning. Students must complete advanced foreign-language courses to graduate.

 

 

 

5. BASIS Scottsdale

Scottsdale, Ariz.

Open since 2003, BASIS Scottsdale is one of eight BASIS charter schools in Arizona. BASIS Scottsdale offers a variety of honors and Advanced Placement courses for high-school students.

 

 

 

4. Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Alexandria, Va.

Located in Fairfax County, this Virginia school offers a curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.). It houses 13 specialized research labs, ranging from astrophysics to microelectronics.

 

 

 

3. Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology

Lawrenceville, Ga.

This school is one of several S.T.E.M. options for students in Georgia's Gwinnett County Public Schools system. Students can take Advanced Placement courses and exams.

 

 

 

2. BASIS Tucson

Tucson, Ariz.

In Arizona, students at BASIS Tucson can graduate after three years or stay an additional year to complete capstone courses or a student project. The charter school offers a variety of Advanced Placement courses that range from calculus to music theory.

Dallas, Texas

This Dallas high school follows Texas' Distinguished Achievement Program. Students must complete at least 11 Advanced Placement courses to graduate.
